President Hugo Chávez is beginning to take
seriously a Spanish judge's demand for the extradition of Basque terrorists
allegedly residing in Venezuela. Previously he had publicly dismissed the
allegations as unfounded 'madness'. His government has formally asked Spain to
provide evidence against the people it wants extradited. What Chávez wants is to
redirect attention away from another of the judge's claims: that his government
has been supporting the training of Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia
(Farc) guerrillas by Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) explosives experts, in camps
